Riverman: Ted Bundy and I Hunt for the Green River Killer

July 15, 1982: 3 woman's strangled body was filed, caught
on the pilings of Washington state's Green River. Before long,
the "Green River Killer" would be suspected in at least 49
homicides, with no end in sight. Then authorities received
a letter from Bundy -- on death row -- offering to help catch
the Green River Killer. But he would only talk to Robert Keppel,
the former homicide detective who helped track Bundy's cross-county
killing spree.

This reckoning of the deaths of almost 50 women in Seattle
is distressing not only for the gruesomeness of the crimes
but also for reasons probably not intended by Smith and Guillen,
who reported on the murders for the Seattle Times.

Tony
Savage, 71, has been a member of the Washington State Bar Association
since 1955. He served as a King County deputy prosecutor from
1956 to 1962 and has been a lawyer for 45 years.
Currently
he is defending Kevin Cruz, also facing the possibility of the death
penalty for a November 1999 fatal shooting at Seattle's Northlake
Shipyard.
Other high
profile cases include:
Charles
Campbell, who hung in in 1994 for killing 3 people and Brian Ronquillo,
convicted of shooting a Ballard High School student in 1994.
In 1985,
he defended David Lewis Rice, once sentenced to die, now serving
life for killing Seattle attorney Charles Goldmark and his family.
He defended
city councilmen against theft and drug charges.
He represented
Seattle police detective Earl "Sonny" Davis, whose case was dismissed
after 2 juries couldn't decide if he stole money from a crime scene.
