Hoquiam (pop 8,875)
Hoquiam is adjacent to Aberdeen’s west border. The city was founded at
the
confluence of the Hoquiam and Chehalis Rivers and is home to 20 parks including
the
8th and 9th street landings that offer walks along the river and picnic and barbecue
areas with boat access.
Hoquiam is home to the Grays Harbor National Wildlife refuge; a stopover for
many
thousands of shorebirds during their spring and fall migrations. The annual Loggers
Playday remembers the logging heritage of the community.
Major industries include Grays Harbor Paper and a new Westport Shipyard facility.
